Now that the Prince met Cinderella in person, he isn’t about to give up on finding her, even if he has to put that silly shoe on every foot in the Kingdom. He is never going to give up until he finds his true love. And now that Cinderella has met the Prince and gotten to know him personally, she isn’t going to let her step-sisters get in the way of him finding out that the shoe belongs to her. She is never going to give up on making sure the prince knows that his true love is her.
The different versions of the Cinderella story show her getting the Prince’s attention in different ways like bringing water to him and his famished horse or running all the way to the castle to stop him from marrying the wrong woman. Even with her step-sisters and step-mother doing everything to make sure the Prince never sees her, Cinderella doesn’t give up.
Like Cinderella, you want to be creative and try different approaches to get to your goals. To be clear, “Never Give Up” doesn’t mean participating in the definition of insanity as credited to Einstein – “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
Never Give Up means continuing taking steps forward and adjusting with the help of the tools available to you and getting input from your mentors. Never Give Up means learning from our mistakes and trying different approaches.
Here are some more famous quotes about not giving up.
“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success.” Ross Perot
“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” Winston Churchill
This all goes back to previous posts. As discussed in Step Out of Your Comfort Zone, too many people prefer the comfort of everything staying the same and complaining about how bad things are rather than doing the work to make things better. Remember – Step 2 Sucks, so we throw out the course? Or not letting dream stealers take our dreams away – even if that dream stealer is yourself.
Let’s quote Winston Churchill again who told us to Never Give Up – “Never, never, never give up.”
Here are some tools that have helped me to Never Give Up.
Self-Improvement is tough. We have so many other things to worry about, but like what we’re told on every airplane ride, put on your mask first. So, we have to take care of ourselves to be able to continue never giving up.
One of the tools I have used for years is meditation and self-hypnosis. One of my favorite pieces tells exactly why I like it so much “the less you try, the better it works.” I spend so much of my day trying to be more, do more, have more, it’s great to have a tool that helps me best when I try less.
